Extracurriculars

Extracurricular activities at Emerson Waldorf School occur during the school day.  Every student at the EWS High School takes core art classes: Drawing, Painting, Clay Sculpture (I-III), Stone Carving, Fine Woodworking, Coppersmithing, and Basic Wood Construction.

Additionally, students are offered Practical Art and Movement electives. As in many Waldorf schools, these extracurricular courses are offered in the afternoon to balance the morning of intellectual activity. Students are called upon to physically shape, form, move, push, manipulate, create, and experience their world in real and tangible ways. This “outbreath” creates a rhythm that provides a satisfying structure to the weekly school experience.
