The Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is seeking a full-time school Administrator to begin July of 2012. EWS is a well-established school that offers Pre-K through 12th grade Waldorf Education on one beautiful 54-acre campus in Chapel Hill, NC–a region sometimes called “the southern part of heaven.” As part of the Research Triangle area, Chapel Hill is minutes from Duke and the University of NC. The Triangle regularly appears in lists of the top places to live in the country, and boasts a vibrant cultural and arts scene.
Now 27 years old, EWS is poised for a new and exciting phase in the school’s life. A member of AWSNA and accredited by NAIS/SAIS, EWS is currently 240 students strong and growing.
The Administrator is responsible for the day to day operation of the school and for providing leadership for the school by facilitating and coordinating school matters and ensuring timely and effective communication within the school community and with the broader community.
Candidates must be committed to Waldorf education and the study of Anthroposophy, have a willingness to work collaboratively, and the vision and strength needed to facilitate achievement of the school’s educational, organizational and financial goals.
Requirements for the position include
- BA or better in administration, management, or a related field
- Four years or more of experience in a non-profit or educational setting
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Professional experience in long-range planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, employee management, budget development, and public relations
