On December 3rd, the Emerson Waldorf School will celebrate the coming of winter and the holiday season with our 4th Holiday Faire. The Faire is a special, magical celebration that provides a wide variety of crafts and activities for children of all ages, fantastic food, storytelling events, live music from students, and much much more. It is a family-run, family fun event for all, and supports our school’s many endeavors. In addition to all the activities and events, the Vendor’s Village is where beautiful, handmade, original crafts and works of art can be purchased for giving (or keeping!). We hope you will consider joining us from 10-4 on December 3rd to be a part of this unique, wonderful event!
Vendors include: fine craft toys of wood and fiber, Waldorf-inspired nature folk, handcrafted jewelry and natural gemstones, fused glass, notecards, silk scarves, fiber art, and just in time for Christmas and Hanukkah-Waldorf-style dolls from a new vendor this year, as well as student and teacher artwork .
FAQs
Where can I park?
Parking is available in the kindergarten and lower school parking lots, as well as along New Jericho Road. If you park along the road, PLEASE help us be good neighbors by parking your car fully on the grass-no wheels on the road!
How much is admission?
Admission is free. To purchase food and the craft activities you must buy tickets, which will be available at the Lower School entrance and in front of the high school. Each ticket costs one dollar. You will not be able to buy food or an activity with cash.
We are vegetarians-can we find food at the Faire?
Many of our families are vegetarians, and we will be providing veggie sausages with peppers and onions, a wonderful vegan curried (spicy, not hot) Indian-lentil soup, and slices of cheese pizza. Gluten-free desserts as well.
What kinds of crafts can my children make at the Faire?
Everything from log bird feeders, recipe jars, felting, candle decorating, jump ropes, beautiful paper stars and paper votives, and dyeing silk scarves. Some of the crafts may require more supervision for younger children than others.
Is there any entertainment at the Faire?
There will be 3 showings of the puppet show at 11:30am, 1pm, and 2pm; our student jazz band will perform, as well as other music student groups.
I’ve never been to your campus before-how will I find my way around?
Maps with directions and event information will be available at the ticket tables.
What is the Faire for?
Holiday Faire is an annual fundraiser for the Emerson Waldorf School-many Waldorf schools have a version of this Faire. It is one more way in which we are part of something larger than ourselves!
My family doesn’t celebrate Christmas; will we feel comfortable at the Faire?
While the Holiday Faire does have some elements of the holiday season, such as a vendor’s area for the purchase of holiday gifts, it is not centered on any one religion or culture. There will be crafts reflecting a diversity of traditions, as well as fun gifts and activities for everyone!
