This video series features child development psychologist, Dr. Gordon Neufeld of the neufeldinstitute.com.

The content of the video is applicable to parents of children of all ages and it is free to the public, registration required. We are watching The Power to Parent Part 1: The Vital Connection. In the first volume of this three-part series, Dr. Neufeld focuses on the child-adult relationship as the context for raising children. Parents and professionals learn how this relationship is meant to develop, what can go wrong, why peers must not matter more than parents, the true meaning of shyness, how to cultivate a context of connection, how to win back one’s child if need be, how to preserve the connection, and more. Parents and professionals also learn about the kinds of interactions and discipline that erode the relationship and effective alternatives that are attachment-safe.

Part One: The Vital Connection is 8 hours of content that we will see over 6 sessions; each workshop builds on the other, so missing one is not recommended.

Location: The Emerson Waldorf School, 6211 New Jericho Road, Chapel Hill, NC, the lab classroom (High School Building - just follow the signs!)

Childcare: $10 per child, $5 for each additional child. Childcare is available from 9:45am-Noon.
