"In a society that may be nudging children prematurely into adulthood, Waldorf schools try to preserve the magic and fairy-tale wonder of being a child."

Parent/Child Program

Morning Garden Parent and Child Class

Our Parent/Child Program is designed to meet the social needs of the young children (birth to 3 years) while providing loving support for parents. It is led by one of our Early Childhood teachers one morning a week (see PDF schedule below). She will join with parents striving to create a warm, nurturing environment that seeks to surround the child with rhythm, reverence and adult gestures worthy of imitation. The program will provide a supportive environment for parents to explore the joys and challenges of raising young children, to learn simple crafts, stories and songs or to simply observe babies in movement, play and social interaction. A snack will be prepared and enjoyed by all. We will learn from sharing our insights and observations, as well as having readings and discussions of articles that explain the Waldorf approach toward the young child.

A Morning at Morning Garden

When you arrive with your child let them play outside on the play yard for a few minutes. As you arrive in the room and are greeted, settle in for a warm and comfortable morning.

While the parent engages in conversation and purposeful work, the children are free to help or play. As parents are sharing ideas and keeping a loving eye on the children, we experience the child at work, for play is the work of the young child.

The teacher will end with a short circle or a story. Morning Garden ends then with a goodbye and a short walk outside.
