Expectations

Homework and Class Work Expectations

One of the cornerstones of Waldorf education is the main lesson. A main lesson focuses intensively on one subject for three to four weeks, and culminates with the completion of a “main lesson book” which is the student’s summation of the class in their own words and illustrations.

There will be homework which will average one hour per night in the form of reading, written assignments and main lesson book work.  The main lesson book is due on the last day of class and will be returned to the student.

Classes will not be graded unless requested.

Please inform us if the student has learning differences.

Other Expectations

Please review the following guidelines for a successful experience at the Emerson Waldorf School.
•    We start our class at 8:10 a.m. and finish at 10:00 a.m.  You are welcome to stay for our snack break from 10-10:15 a.m.
•    Please be on time.  If you will be absent, please call the high school office at 932-1195 and let us know. The office is open at 7:30 am.
•    Please dress appropriately for the weather and for the subject; close-toed shoes are required for all science classes.
•    No electronic devices, including cell phones, are permitted in classes. We strongly encourage all students to leave their phones at home, but if you do bring one, it must be turned in to the high school office when you arrive. It will be returned to you before you leave for the day. Students are permitted to use the office phone to contact their parents if necessary.
•    We expect all students to demonstrate respect to themselves, their classmates, and their teachers.
