Tuition Assistance

The Emerson Waldorf School is committed to serving a diverse student body.  Our Tuition Adjustment Program is designed to allow qualified students, whose families would not otherwise be able to afford to pay full tuition, with the opportunity to attend.  The Board commits ?????% of our operating budget each year to Tuition Adjustment

No student should be deterred from applying to Emerson for financial reasons.  Instead, we encourage families to enter into a discussion about tuition assistance during the admissions process.

The process of awarding Tuition Adjustment involves three steps:

 1.  Application for admission and acceptance of the student.

 2.  On-line completion of TADS forms (insert link), which in which the family must list all income, savings, assets, and debts, as well as provide copies of its federal income tax returns.

3.  A conversation with our Tuition Adjustment Committee, which consists of parents, board members, or administrative staff.  No faculty members participate in this coversation, and faculty members are not aware of which students are receiving Tuition Adjustment.   During the conversation, the family and the committee discuss the financial information submitted, and the level of tuition suggested by TADS.  The committee discusses the school’s budget, operating costs and  priorities.  The process assumes that the family will support the school according to its abilities and that both parties–the family and the school–will stretch to meet each others needs.  After this conversation, the family is asked to commit to an adjusted amount of tuition, and a contract is signed.

Another  option to assist families in paying for tuition is the Sallie Mae K-12 Family Education Loan.
