FARM CAMP Ages 7-10
Join seasoned environmental educator and Farm School founder CC King to learn homesteading skills like bread-baking, candle-dipping, and soap-making. We'll be eating our bread with butter we've churned from the cream of a local cow. Perhaps you'd like to share some lemon curd you made from lemons you squeezed and added to eggs you collected from chickens that you know. Each day we will spend time at the EWS farm, in the garden and with the animals, as well as in the woods. Throughout the week we will farm craft, play games and grow in friendship.
FORT BUILDING #2 Ages 8-12 FULL
Ever build a fort in the woods? Well, here's your chance to explore and experiment with structures made of natural materials that we will find and gather. We'll learn how to choose a good campsite- guided by "the 5 W's"- since a good shelter in a bad location is a BAD SHELTER. We'll also learn the 4 principles necessary for any effective survival shelter. You will have a chance to work on individual forts and possibly a large group structure with seasoned counselor Gumby Montgomery. We will also play games and take walks in the woods, fields, and wetlands to see what we can learn from other creatures’ nests, dens, and hideouts. Bring ideas and enthusiasm!
