About

The Emerson Waldorf School provides a creative, supportive learning environment based on the philosophical and pedagogical indications of Dr. Rudolf Steiner.

We offer a time-tested curriculum designed to bring interdisciplinary and multi-sensory learning in response to the needs of the child at each stage of development, with a rich blend of academics and arts.  Since the Emerson Waldorf School opened its doors in 1984, our enrollment has continued to grow.

We enroll children ages 0-18, in our Parent-Child program for children under age 3, our pre-K and Kindergarten program, and Grades 1-12.

The woodland campus of 54 acres provides safe and ample space for creative play and for exploring the natural sciences, while specially designed buildings encourage a sense of beauty in harmony with the natural surroundings.  A strong and vibrant community of parents and teachers supports the work of the school, including an active Parent Organization.

The Emerson Waldorf School is a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS).  Emerson is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), the Southern Association of Colleges Schools (SACS), and AdvancEd.
