Alva

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS Kindergarten in 2011.

  • Senior Project: Behavioral Dog Training

  • College Commitment: Virginia Tech

  • Anticipated College Major: Architecture

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? I aspire to work on sustainable residential architecture, also other forms.

 

Truman

  • When did you start at EWS? I have been at EWS since 10th grade.

  • Senior Project:Memory Cafe”

  • College Commitment: University of North Carolina

  • Anticipated College Major: Biostatistics

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? Get good grades, do an exchange, pursue a Ph.D. or Masters degree

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of the two blood drives that I coordinated my senior year.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in 1st grade. 

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I created a podcast about hauntings and haunted locations.

  • College Commitment: Community College or Gap Year

  • Anticipated College Major: Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? Working, figuring out what I want to do with my future, and maybe a bit of traveling if possible.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? This year's art projects and making it through my final year at EWS.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in Kindergarten.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I built a laser cutter.

  • College Commitment: University of North Carolina at Charlotte

  • Anticipated College Major: Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? My goal is to get an undergraduate degree in electrical, computer, or systems engineering and then get a Masters degree in one of the other two.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? My biggest accomplishment was with the robotics team when we went to the state competition in our first year. Most teams take at least 6 years to make it.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in 7th grade.

  • Senior Project: I studied the Italian language for my senior project.

  • College Commitment: Tufts University

    Anticipated College Major: Applied Mathematics 

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? I hope to record an album as I study mathematics and sociology in college.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of leading a summer math clinic for the middle school last year.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in 10th grade.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project I worked on an old truck, which included installing a new carpet and seat covers.

  • College Commitment: Durham Tech

  • Anticipated College Major: Computer Science & Software Development

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? My goal is to dive into a new field of study and hopefully be interested in it.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of finishing high school.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I learned how to play the ukulele and make a cover album.

  • Anticipated College Major: Pre-physical Therapy/ Sports Medicine 

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? I hope to explore and experience new things and get the most out of college.

  • Senior Project: Making Video Games 

  • College Commitment: NC State University

  • Anticipated College Major: Computer Science with game development focus

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in Kindergarten.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I built a cob hut.

  • College Commitment: University of North Carolina at Greensboro

  • Anticipated College Major: Psychology

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? My goals are to study, work hard, and choose a profession.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am proud of winning the "Spirit Award" for the 2022-23 academic year.

  • When did you start at EWS? My entire life! I started in parent child classes in 2005.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I learned about creating pottery.

  • College Commitment: I am taking a gap year in which I backpack in Colorado, Utah and Chilean Patagonia in the fall semester. During the spring I plan on WWOOFing (organic farming) in New Zealand. After my gap year, I will be attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. 

  • Anticipated College Major: Environmental Science or Education

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? To see more of the world, meet new people, and learn more about myself!

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am very proud of my senior project.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at EWS in 3rd grade.

  • Senior Project: Updating and trying to publish my card game I originally created for my 8th grade project.

  • College Commitment: Warren Wilson

  • Anticipated College Major: Undecided, but probably political science, english, or theater.

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond?: I hope to play soccer in college, and go on an exchange at some point during my college career.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of?: Making my game, and seeing it in a final state.

  • When did you start at EWS? I started at Emerson when I was in 5th grade.

  • Senior Project: For my senior project, I studied meditation.

  • College Commitment: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

  • Anticipated College Major: Undecided but interested in dental hygiene. 

  • What are your goals, plans, and aspirations for next year and beyond? I want to spend next year adjusting to the new college environment and take a wide variety classes and join many clubs.

  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of graduating high school.
